CROCHET BLOCKING

I'm getting quite a few granny squares done for my "Nanny McPhee Inspired Rug". For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here is photo of the gorgeous rug in the film.

Mine of course is a little brighter and I am using an off white around each block, but this is the rug that inspired me.

So, back to blocking those squares. Since I now have a few I thought it was time to start as I would hate to make up all of them (360) then spend days blocking.

I measured out 6 squares on foam board each being 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". I pinned one corner of the square then the opposite corner. The other corners were pinned the same way, then pinning one side at a time, I eased the granny into the shape I wanted.

Pinned block with un-pinned block.

6 pinned blocks ready for steaming.

Grannies now dry and taken from the board.

Now they look much better.

  1. too funny. I was watching Nanny McPhee last night, just happened upon it, and was called out to watch The Muppet Movie. I loved watching the muppets. Even impressed my kid by singing all The Rainbow Connection!! Some things stick with you. I think this will be an awesome project for you. It neat how sometimes your eye just finds something like that and sticks to it.
