JOURNEY OF AN ART QUILT

I've taken my first step to learn how to create a art quilt. So, what would a scrapbooker do? Make a journal to record the journey in of course. With this book "Art Quilt Workbook", you read one chapter at a time and do the exercises and homework at the end of each chapter. There are wordplay exercises and sketches of designs to do, so I thought I would make a special journal to put them and photos of finished quilts in, as well as my thoughts and ideas on the whole process.

I made the journal from scratch as I wanted art paper and watercolour papers included in it. I also wanted it to open from the top as I am left handed and there is nothing worse than always hitting the binding when you are trying to write or draw. The size of the pages are 5 1/4" x 6 3/4" with the covers being slightly larger. The covers are made from chipboard that I painted a base coat on in turquoise, then used a sea sponge to sponge on different colours over the top. When dry, I added the title in chipboard and velvet letters.
I used my fantastic bind-it-all machine to put it all together. I would recommend one of these beauties to anyone who would listen, you can bind just about anything together, I got mine from here
So all I have to do now is find some of that spare time stuff that some people seem to have LOL and I will be well on my way to creating my very own art quilts.
