DONE!!!

I managed to fulfill my pledge for this month by quilting a quilt for a friend. It wasn't on my list but needed to be done and as this is the 30th of June I just squeezed it in.
Here's a peek at her quilt with the pebble quilting she requested.

Now onto one of mine.....

DR SEUSS UPDATE

I've almost finished the first Dr Seuss quilt top, side borders just need to be added for a bit more width.
This quilt has been so much fun to make, now onto the other 3.

Enjoy your weekend.xxxSue

A CLEAN-UP AND QUILT PROGRESS

Trisha over at TLC Stitches got me really thinking about how I store my fabric. I never see it as it's stored away in boxes with my designer fabrics stored seperately in fear of them catching something from the common fabrics. LOL
So today that all changed, I emptied a couple of shelves by putting all of Sophie's books in a bookcase in her room and placed my fabrics together out in the open, designer and all.

I still have 2 boxes full of batiks and other fabrics I like to use for art quilts, but for the moment I'm happy to see some fabrics I had completely forgotten about.

Here some progress on a quilt I started today. I will be making 4 of these quilts, all similar for my new Etsy store. Well maybe 3 as Sophie is a huge Dr Seuss fan.

OUT WITH THE OLD........

Last night I thought it was high time that I made a new needlebook that reflected the syle of fabrics that I love today.

My poor old needlebook from the mid 90's is certainly outdated with the Debbie Mumm fabrics which by the way I was totally in love with.

So, here is my poor old reliable needlebook.

and here is my new one.

OH ANNA MARIA....

I love what you do.

PINWHEEL QUILT TOP

oh this is definately my "new favorite quilt".
Here's the close up of the odd block that I included just for a little bit of difference.

I've pretty much used up most of my FMF prints now and I'm so glad I used them to make pretty things, not just kept them in a cupboard.
I love the scrappy border using the left over scraps, ahhh I love everything about this quilt. I am adding this one to the pledge list and should hopefully have it quilted this week.

A PLEDGE TO MYSELF

I PROMISE TO TRY AND FINISH ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUILTS PER MONTH SO I CAN BE GUILT FREE (well almost as there is another 6 to put up after this lot).

Of course this pledge depends on finance for wadding and backing but I'll give it my best shot.

Thank you to my tired armed quilt hangers behind the scenes :)

DEAR DQS9 PARTNER

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I'm so glad you've made it over here to see what I do. I'm really easy pleased as I love so many different techniques, colours and designers so please don't stress and just make something that you would love to have for yourself.

I do have to say that I don't particularly like florals (cuteness is fine), dull fabrics, country prints or civil war reproductions.

I love bright, modern, funky prints and am addicted to Heather Ross, Denyse Schmidt and so many more amazing designers. Wonkiness and circles and in case you haven't guessed, hexagons are my favourite techniques atm and I'm rather partial to birds.

This swap is all about fun, so again, don't stress I'm really easy to please.

I can't wait to see what you will make for me and to find out who you are.

Oh and sorry that I haven't made a mosiac this time round in Flickr but I have lots on my site for you to have a look at.

ADDICTIVE LITTLE SUCKERS

I didn't want to start making hexagons. My mum was making these things when I was a child and they really never held much appeal for me.
Over the last couple of months all I've seen are cute little hexagons made from modern fabrics everywhere and I went to bed last night thinking up what fabrics I could use from my stash for my tiny 1/2 inch hexagons.
I've suprised myself, they are so cute and fun to do. Mind you, cutting all of the hexagons out has been trying. (my local fabric store wanted nearly $7 for 100 pieces of paper and there was no way I was paying that plus they weren't quite the right size).

ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW STRONGER

Doesn't it?
I can't believe it's been a week since my last post. There's a lot of yucky, sicky germs around the the Brown household that has held up any hope of finishing products for my opening of the Etsy store.

Here's a couple of shots to show I am slowly pushing along.
sets of 4 coasters.

set of 6 placemats and napkins (coasters are still in the making for this set).
