THREAD SKETCHING

I visited my good friend Nancy today, she's just come back from Bali again (she goes a couple of times a year). Nancy always buys up big on batik fabrics and today I asked her if she had any spare scraps, of course she said yes, she's such a generous soul. Her scraps got me quite inspired and as soon as I came home I started ironing and cutting.

So a bit of the above pile became this.....

and then became this...... Click on the photo for a better look at the stitching.

here is the back, the backing is a wool blend felt.

the next step should happen this weekend, I'll be watching Avatar tonight, I hope I like it.

I'M BACK

After a week of not doing an awful lot but lying on the couch, I finally feel half human again.
To prove I have a little crafting energy back, here's a look at what I'm working on today.

Elsie Flannigan and Rachel Denbow's new online class started on Monday, I am now behind on that one thanks to sickness but hope to catch up over the next few days.

NOT SO MUCH ON THE CREATING FRONT

When your head is foggy, you have a splitting headache and a nausea's tummy, crafting is way down the list.

See you when I'm out of the fog.

MMMM BOOKS

These 2 books (along with about 15 others) have been on my wishlist for a while. Coming into the colder weather I wanted some new inspiration with little pieces to make while the fire is going and I'm snuggled under a quilt. Oh they are both beautiful books and yes I am inspired.

Also from Meg (Sew Liberated) I ordered this pattern having seen the amazing tunics that have been made by fellow sewers from around the world. Now that I have finally invested in some long black boots and leggings, I need something to go over the top for winter. I can't wait to start on a couple of these.

SEW IT TOGETHER SWAP

Look what I received in the mail.
My name tag for Sew It Together next month.

Thank you so much Carmel I will wear it with pride. Look at the detail with the sculpey sewn on. She's one clever girl.
Now that my recipient has received her tag, here it is. It went to Retromummy and I hear she liked it.

Now available in my Madeit shop or by emailing me.....

FAIRYTALE BLISS

BOYS AND THEIR FOOTY

Both boys played their first game of football today. Daniel in under 14's and Lachie in under 12's.
First up is a sequence in which Daniel grabs the ball and is about to be tackled....

Then there's Lachie, well his back anyway. He was always across the other side of the oval to me, hopefully I will get some better shots next week.

Lachie won an award at the end of the game, he was so proud.

Congrats boys you both did a fantastic job out there.

PATCHWORK FLOOR RUG

I woke up this morning with a sudden urge to create a floor rug to go on the tiles under the kitchen sink.
Luckly I had a stash of Denyse Schmidt fabrics in home decorator weight cotton on hand and some non slip backing in the cupboard.
Here's the finished product and it feels lovely under my feet while doing the dishes.

The real test will be tonight when Heidi is let in.

SEW IT TOGETHER

It's getting closer. The event is in May, I signed up for a name tag swap and completed it last night. The tag had to be less than 9cm and in red and aqua. I've blotted out the name as it's an anonymous swap.

I hope she likes Amy Butler and Denyse Schmidt fabrics, but then again, who doesn't?

TA DA

CITRUS BURST

Yesterday would have been the perfect day for photographing this quilt outside, today it's overcast and windy but the quilt gives the photo a summer burst I think.
I would like to offer a PDF of this pattern I just have to learn how to do it first.

CITRUS BURST

I made the top today, it came together suprisingly easy. I really wanted to show you the whole quilt top but I've ran out of light so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Do lots of scribbles and working out on little bits of paper, forget where they are, then start again on bigger pieces of paper.
