A BIT OF THIS AND THAT

I have been keeping my eye out for fabrics with text on them forwhat seems like ages. Where I live however there really isn't much around. I'm not in a hurry but I have had an idea for a quilt in mind for a couple of years. I fill my cart at Etsy with lots of fabrics, only to disregard them as they are from too many different sellers and the postage is way too great. SIGH.......
So here is my little stash (I also have heaps of selvages to use up).

I bought these books from the Book Depository in England last week. Unbelievable that the books are heaps cheaper than out here and free postage world-wide!!!! These books both contain 3 books within each of Elm Creek Quilts stories. I have wanted to read them for ages and of course our library doesn't keep them. Jennifer is an amazing writer, boy she gets you sucked into the story and just learning about the history of quilting in this way is fasinating. Well worth reading and I can't believe I'm hooked on something else other than the Twilight series!!! Yes I've read them all 6 times!

Is finished and ready to be posted to my partner. I really hope she likes it, I've had a hard time letting go of this one, I'd be more than happy to keep it.

QUILTING PLEDGE CONTINUES

Another quilt finished off my pile.

I used a batting that I hadn't tried before, it's Nu-Wool, made locally and 60% wool, 40% polyester. I have always used a natural batting before be it cotton, wool or bamboo, but I do like to play with something a little different and since I'm far from a purest as I use a polyester blend thread in my quilts, why not.

I was happily surprised at the result, very easy to quilt and I love the loft of it, I'm impressed and will definately be using it again.

The quilting itself is something I had jotted down in my ideas journal for quite a while. I wanted lines, but an organic look (not nessarily straight) with the lines going in 3 directions and spaced at different intervals. I'm happy with the quilting, I think it suits the design.

IS THIS ONE OF THE MOST GORGEOUS THINGS YOU'VE EVER SEEN?

I think so......

This amazing album is one of Gloria Froese' creations. Gloria has been a wonderful online friend of mine for a couple of years, she lives in Canada and is certainly the most inspiring artist that I know.

So to you Gloria, thank you so much, to see and touch it in real life is amazing.

CROCHET

If you can see past the really bad grainy photos, you will notice my first attempt at crochet. It's a neck-warmer of sorts and I've got to say, I'm pretty pleased with it.

I didn't follow a pattern, just the idea from other pieces and boy does it keep my neck warm through all of these freezing days watching our boys play footy.

EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESSY FOR ME

It will allow me to make my own stamps and stencils from any image, design, photo, writing etc. There is so much potential for stamping on papers and fabric.
