HMMMMMM......

Not hmmm for the quilt top I've made for a 40th present, that's going great, it's pinned and I will hopefully quilt it tonight.

Not hmmm for these photos of Heidi being so cute and biting my ear.

hmmm is for the following photos, you should have seen how guilty she looked when we caught her out. Sophie bought her this toy the day before this incident, she's not a happy camper.

FAR OUT!!!!!

Why do I do this to myself? I have 10 unfinished quilts all at various stages and I decide that my bff needs a beautiful quilt for her 40th birthday, next week!
Luckly I picked a very easy pattern so I will have the top finished tonight, but I am also going to Melbourne on Sunday and am working tomorrow and all next week, hmmm add karate 2 nights next week, work 1 night and 3 kids and a husband I should at least talk to, I'm going to be strapped for time.
Ah I know, I do it because I love it and I know she will appreciate my efforts especially after a big night out when she will need a quilt to snuggle under the morning after.
I will show the quilt top tomorrow, I am loving it, it is so Debbie.

FUN, FUN, FUN

Boy have I had a busy weekend mostly doing stuff I really wanted to do. The kids have entertained themselves for the most part and I've sewn, painted, inked to my heart's content.
First up is a look at some pages from a mini album I'm creating (remember the sneak peeks from a few posts ago?)
Since seeing P!nk my mixed media mojo has returned with full force, just seeing someone so amazing and creative in her own art has inspired me no end.
I wasn't going to show this album until it was all completed but there's still so much to do it may take a little while.
There are still some words etc to be placed on a few of these pages but they are mostly done for now.
Don't forget to click on the photos for a closer look.

What you probably can't see in the photos is all of the paint, misting and charcoal used, they look like they have more depth irl.

Next up is the finished beach/garden rug.
The quilting was simple straight lines 2 inches apart to hold it all together. Totally reversible, I love the back as much as the front I think.
The end measurement came to 60" x 60".

I hope you managed to fit in something fun into your weekend :)

VINTAGE FINDS AND A LITTLE MAKING

I saw this crocheted rug at my local thrift shop and just had to have it as I know I'll never be able to make one. It cost me $5, that's it just $5!
How sad is it that someone can spend hours and hours on something for it to end up being tossed as though it's worth nothing. Well I know I will treasure it, it's just perfect for me to snuggle under on the verandah with a cup of green tea.

I like to pick up vintage sheets and pillowcases and today I managed to pick up quite a few. So even though I am in the middle of too many projects to count, I downed tools to start this one.
I decided I needed a little summer in my life so I put this top together to use at the beach to sit on. I love the the vintage prints all put together.
There is no wadding in his one only the top and back for easy drying from all of those wet sandy bums that will be happily sitting on it.
I will quilt it together and bind it hopefully tonight and then put it away and wait for some sunny weather.

I made this cute little box pouch last night from this online tutorial here
I can't believe how quick this was to make, just perfect for holding my most used cottons in.

I KNOW, I KNOW

I know I said I was done with buying more way too yummy fabric over the net, but what is a girl to do?
I do have an excuse however, as most of this fabric will be going into quilts to sell over at my Madeit shop, so here they are, this week's arrivals.

TO SEW OR NOT TO SEW?

That was the question and of course I chose to sew.

I joined the DQS7 swap which is a doll's quilt swap a couple of weeks back and I finished my top today for my recipient. We were given some ideas on what our recipient would like so I sure hope she likes this!

I finally finished quilting this quilt over the weekend, I love the way it turned out and Sophie really liked to look of it on her bed while I was taking the photos, so guess where it will now be living.

This leaf fabric is one of my favourites in my stash, sadly I don't have a lot left, but I'm glad I used it on the back of this quilt.

So apart from sewing not a lot else was achieved. I hope you had a happy weekend :)

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

Aside from the fact that I will be making a huge creative mess. Hopefully I will be able to show you really soon.

A BEACH VISIT IN WINTER & A MADEIT UPDATE

I decided early this morning that I would take the kids and Heidi to the beach for a bit of a workout and photoshoot.
The weather was beautiful, no wind and around 12 degrees (not really water weather although the kids were keen to get in!)
So, here are a few of the 190 shots I took and if you thought I had 3 children, that is still true, Kyle is the ring-in and my gorgeous nephew who I treat as one of my own.

Madeit Update..................
I have listed both of these quilts in my shop, if you want to have a look, just click on the Madeit button on the right of screen.

YAH, I ACHIEVED TODAY.

My Madeit shop is looking pretty empty so I've put all other quilts on hold to add some new ones to it.
This is my version of a modern baby boy's quilt that is soft and snuggly enough to use as a wrap, I will use a cuddly flannel for the back and a thin batting so it is kept nice and soft.

I have some of my very favourite fabrics in this quilt along with a stone coloured linen/cotton blend to tie it all together.
I wish my babies were still little enough to use this one :)

JANEY HAS HER TABLE

It finally arrived today and what was supposed to be my day of sewing ended up being a day of putting together the table and shifting furniture. Maybe tonight I will get to play.
Boy my walls and floor sure do look bare in there. Hopefully I will have something to show you tomorrow, don't hold your breath though.
