IT'S THE SIMPLE THINGS.....

While wondering down the street this morning I spotted this tea set and bought it just like that. It didn't cost much but it makes me smile and that's worth a lot to me.

A week ago I was ready to shout from the rooftops that I was going to Japan for a holiday to meet my dear online friend Lisa, something kept me from shouting however and I now know why.

Darren came home from work yesterday with some not great news, he and the rest of the staff have to take days off without pay due to everything that is going with the economy. I have been supportive and optomistic and I am just grateful that he has a job.

It's not all doom and gloom though, I have been offered a few more hours work at the fabric shop and yesterday I was offered my old job back at kindergym. I have accepted both and they will certainly help our situation.

I will now go and make myself a cuppa with my beautiful new tea set and smile as I sip.

Have a lovely day and I hope you find something that makes you smile.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO IN SUCH MISERABLE WEATHER?

Here's a very simple page made for Sophie's 1st year album. I am changing the way I have the kid's baby albums into D ring albums with different size page protectors to be able to put in 1st clothes, booties etc so they are all together. I took this idea from Ali Edwards, the way she does things just makes me go Ahhhhh, why didn't I think of that.

I started this quilt today, the weather is way to bad to even consider doing anything outside, great excuse I say.
These are the fabrics I bought in Bright last year and have been sitting on them ever since. I have designed a few patterns for them but they never seemed quite right. At 2am this morning I worked out what I wanted to do, then of course couldn't get back to sleep as I was too busy working out the details. This happens a lot to me!

Look at this pile, isn't it great?
Yesterday I took a heap of clothes down to the Salvo's and had a bit of a look around. There was a lady looking at a vintage chenille bedspread and I thought "that would be right, I've missed out yet again" and I walked off. I saw the lady walking around and she didn't have it with her so I raced to the back of the shop and picked it up, wow, how does anyone go past a beauty like this for $3.50? I felt lucky then, as some of you may be aware, I collect vintage chenille to use in my quilts and over the last few years they have become increasingly hard to find.
So here it is, all cut and ready to use. Most of it is in great condition, there wasn't much I couldn't use due to holes and rust etc, and after a big soak and scrub it has come up beautifully.

Have a great weekend, I'm off to play some more.

I'M OFF AGAIN

I'm leaving with most of my family (Daniel is in Muswellbrook, NSW visiting my sister and his cousins Boo Hoo, I'm missing him and so desperately want to see Taresa again). Anyway, we're going to Melbourne at 7am tomorrow morning, we should get there at about lunch time when we will be going straight to the aquarium, I can't wait to see the penguins.
Saturday will be a bit of looking around then Darren will be taking Lachie to the footy (Hawks and Port) they are both huge Hawks fans and I will be taking Sophie for a bit of girly shopping, can't wait.
Sunday will be the Melbourne Market then the long drive home.
Have a great weekend everyone, so have you checked out my other blog yet? The link is to the right of this post.

Okay, so I've been thinking that it's about time I started being accountable for not only what I eat but how much I exercise in a public place so I'm starting another blog for those very reasons. Health and exercise play a huge role in my life and always has, be it physical, mental or my studies.

So here it is What Are You Waiting For
There is a link on the side bar for whenever you want to visit. I will be recording how I am going, have tips on exercise and nutrition and links to great sites.
I hope this blog wil be useful to you in some way.

HERE IT IS.....

This is my new favourite quilt, I love the way the linen came up quilted. It is supposed to be for sale but I'm thinking that I really, really like it. hmmmmm

Thank you so much to this wonderful, talented lady for the pattern. You should check her out her work is amazing.

The fabrics are reproductions from around the 1930's, I never used to like this style of fabric at all, but then last year I started taking a little more notice to them and my mind was changed, now they are all I want to work with. LOL.

EASTER CHICKS

I finished something!!!!! Actually a couple of things. I sat at my machine all day today, I didn't do any housework, Darren looked after the kids and I just sewed.

Here are some felt Easter chicks I whipped up for Lachie and Sophie to go with their Easter goodies from the Easter bunny. I copied a free pattern from this blog Darren seems to think Lachie will use his for a footy, I think he's right.

I quilted for 7 hours today to get my latest quilt finished, I will show that tomorrow as I have just finished the binding and I am about to wash it.

AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

That's all I can do to describe how I'm feeling at the moment.

I should have some pictures of my creations for the week, but sadly no I don't.
Nothing is finished, there is so much going on in my head, I am doing stuff, I've been doing stuff every day, but I just can't seem to stay on task and complete anything.

so.....

AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!

hopefully something will be completed tomorrow, we'll see.

I do have some other news however, I will be supplying Spotlight down here with finished samples of scrapbooking and mixed media art to inspire customers to buy and use their products. I can't wait to start on that.

Have a lovely, safe Easter everyone,

TIME TO LAUGH

I needed to scrapbook today, no plans, just to see what happened.

I love this photo of Sophie, so free and so 'her'.
After using napkins, Twinkling H2O's, patterned papers, gems and a crocheted flower, I wanted to put a tiny amount of Kindy Glitz (glue glitter) in the centre of the flower. I didn't want to come out of the tiny spout, I looked around for a pin to unclog and couldn't find one......

With my Ipod blaring in my ears, me singing (not very well I'm sure) I probably didn't take the right approach to fixing the situation and I squeezed really really hard.....

Can anyone guess the next bit?

The bottle exploded all over my layout, hence the glittery effect, all over me including my hair, all over my Ipod, all over numerous projects and papers and furniture and even the ceiling of my caravan.

I laughed so much at the mess that was quickly drying, what else could I do.....

Now onto a very proud Mum moment, my boys and the cricket presentation on the weekend.

Lachie has had a fantastic season this year and I can see the improvement by far in his abilities.
He came equal second overall in the wicket taking for the season, I'm so proud of him.

Daniel has been amazing this season, he has stepped up as being the senior member of the under 12's, he has opened batting and bowling all season, tried out for SAPSASA, played with the under 14's when they were short and was picked for the Future Champions match. Just amazing, he doesn't give himself nearly enough credit for his achievements.
Daniel came equal first in the batting/runs tally, third in the fielding and fourth in the wickets.

I'm gushing now, here is a cute photo of my beautiful babies.
