OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, we did. We had a nice casual bbq for lunch at our home with my parents and 1 of my sisters, then a leftovers dinner at Darren's sister's home.
The day went quickly, the kids had fun, I didn't eat too much (I'm so glad for that) and Sophie is already asking when it will be Christmas again. LOL.
I received some practical gifts this year that I really wanted like an external hard-drive for my 12000 photos to get them off my computer, a hose for the garden that doesn't kink, a set of sheets, a pasta maker and this book I have wanted since it became available a couple of months ago and the pretty stand it is sitting on.

I went down to Spotlight today to spend my Christmas money and this is what I got. These fabrics were all just $2.00/metre, how could I resist?

LAST MINUTE GIFT & CHRISTMAS COOKING

Dante thinks he rules this house, we let him think that.
Heidi, the pug and Snoozle the outside scary cat both have their presents but of course I had to leave one sewing project to do right when I have absolutely no time. He really needs is own quilt when he sleeps on the couch so I don't always have to clean up the fur left behind. I'm sure he will like it, the print suits him.

I've spent the day planning, gathering and cooking Christmas food. We are having a simple BBQ here at home but I wanted to make some special treats.
We are trying these out tonight after our annual pre-Christmas, Christmas meal together
Merry Berry Tarts

Brazil Nut & Almond Brittle

and tonight's pre-Christmas, Christmas meal.......
Fried Rice and Chicken & Cashews
not very Christmasy I know, but that's what the people wanted.

I'm off to set the table and tomorrow will be another day of cooking. I will be making these yummies up to Christmas lunch.
Beetroot dip
Green beans with toasted almonds
more merry berry tarts
mushroom, leek & bacon stuffing for the Chicken
smashed roast potato salad

EARLY CHRISSY PRESSIES FOR ME

click on the photo for a closer look.
from top of pile:
top 4 fabrics are Wild Thyme by Carolyn Gavin
California Dreamin by Jenean Morrison
Meadowsweet by Sandi Henderson
Michael Miller dot
Lotus dot in tangarine by Amy Butler
frolic by Wendy Slotboom
bottom 2 are Shade Garden by Michelle Engel Bencsko
These fabrics arrived in my postbox 1 week after ordering them from Hawthorne Threads in USA. I can't stop touching them (yes I have a problem), they're so pretty.

While finishing up Christmas shopping today I found this bracelet in the $10 bin. If you know me you would know that I am not much of a jewelry wearer, but I do like the odd piece of hippy or tribal jewelry, this piece made me smile, so I bought myself a little pressy.

TODAY'S MAKING

My dad asked me to make him a remote holder for his chair for Christmas. He wanted a holder that held only 1 remote but I made it slightly bigger so he could pop his glasses in there if he wanted to. I used a non-slip fabric for the back so it won't slip around on him. I hope he likes it :)

Remember being at the beach as a child and using your towel to sit on, then after playing in the water having to use the sandy towel to dry yourself? I remember and that is why I have designed this beach/garden quilt for little ones to sit and play on.
The quilt measures 38" x 38" with a tie that holds your rolled quilt together. A drawstring bag allows little ones to carry the quilt with ease.
Flannelette is used for the wadding so the quilt can be quickly rinsed and dried.
Now available in my Madeit store or by emailing me direct.

Look what Sophie lost today. Her first tooth and she's so happy that the tooth fairy will be visiting her tonight.

RANDOMNESS

Posts are getting few and far between this time of year. I have so much to do, yet I don't seem to be achieving much.

I have been making these cute beach/garden blankets for little ones when you are out for a picnic or a play. They have flannelette as the wadding so are easy to rinse out and dry. These blankets will be up in my shop by the end of the week I hope.

hmmmmm what can I say? My creative space in my caravan is sadly being neglected. Maybe I'll make an effort this weekend to tidy up.

On to my garden, come take a wander with me........

Our chookies are happy and healthy and should start laying in a couple of weeks.

How cute are these 2? LOL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY BABIES

Happy 9th Birthday Lachie and Happy 6th Birthday Sophie.

Sophie got her very cute little Janome sewing machine and made this little bag right away. Looks like some mother, daughter sewing time coming up very soon.

Lachie got a DSi for this birthday and Christmas. I can't get him off of it.

My other baby, Daniel graduated from primary school tonight. We had the presentations then we left the kids to a disco for 1 1/2 hours. Dan had a great time, I still can't believe he will be in high school next year.

Last night we had Christmas carols at the school. Sophie and Lachie got up on stage and sung their little hearts out. Here's a photo of one very excited little girl!
