OPINIONS PLEASE

So, here's your chance to really tell me what you think. LOL.

I can go a few different ways with the squares in the following quilt but I would really like some opinions from you guys.

Here is my design so far.

next up, the squares filled with patterned fabrics.

then there is the smaller patterned square with a white border.

and last but not least, the white square.

I'm thinking with the white squares maybe some retro needleturn applique to go with the fabrics in the quilt.

So, come on, help me out here and leave me a comment what you think.

SWEET LITTLE SOPHIE

I got to see Sophie dance today for the first time this year, there have been other viewings but I was always working.
She tries so hard at both ballet and tap and obviously loves them both. I was suprised however at the ages of the girls in her classes, she is definately one, if not the youngest, in them, there's even 9 year olds in her tap class. It's funny because she always looks so tall with friends her age and seeing her as the little one is not something I am used to.

OKAY, SO I'VE BEEN A LITTLE SLACK

but in my defence I have been sick and I also have Sophie home sick as well. I've thought a lot about being creative I really have, I just haven't put it into practice yet.

Because I thought I should leave you with at least a photo, here's some yummy recycled yarn and silk ribbon I picked up from the lovely Viv Bonder on Etsy the other day.

I can't wait to use some binding my art journals.

TODAY I MADE.......

A bunting for Sophie's bedroom.
It was made from a thrifted 100% wool blanket and some fabric scraps and inspired by Amanda Blake Soule's Handmade Home.

We are in the process of re-painting the kids bedrooms so all my stenciled flowers and fairies will have to go. That makes me sad but Sophie will be much happier with a lovely pink wall. ( I never did finish that one wall, the wardrobe was always there to cover the blank wall).

RE-PURPOSING

A couple of years ago I was given a box of fabric samples from an interior designer. I've used bits and pieces but mostly they have been put aside to one day make themselves useful.
Tonight I grabbed a some fabrics and decided to make bags to put my fruit and veg in at the markets tomorrow morning. The fabric is home decorator weight, perfect for these bags.
I love coming up with ways to re-purpose fabrics that otherwise would probably end up in the bin.
Have a lovely weekend

CLEANING UP

It was beautiful weather today and I spent the day cleaning out cupboards. Amazing how messy they get.
Someone turns up on your doorstep, grab a pile of stuff and shove it in a cupboard, then forget about it and pile more on the top. That's what seems to happen around here.
While I was clearing space I came across these stitcheries, don't they look pretty above Janey.

TODAY I AM 39

only one more year of my 30's left. I'm fine with that I mean you can't stop time now can you.
So here is how I spent my day, well actually the last 2 days.

Making a fairy garden for Sophie

We have had the best time together, weeding, painting and planting and Sophie can't wait for the fairies to come out and play tonight.

The toadstools are made from logs and concrete for the tops, I think we will make a couple more of those.

There is still mulch and a little border fence to go around but as you can see from Sophie's clothes it is really cold, wet and windy here so they can wait for another day.

There is a path going to the tree which still needs a magic door that the fairies can open and close, that too is coming.

What a lovely way to spend my birthday.

NOW I CAN BREATH

I've finished my friend's 40th birthday present finally. The quilting took what felt like forever and over 1 kilometre of cotton but I love the result. Sorry about the photos it was really windy.
