MY WEEK IN A NUTSHELL

I finished my brother-in-law's album with memories of his brother Jason in it who passed away suddenly in April.
I'm only showing the cover as it is a very personal album that is for Scott and whoever he wishes to show it to.

I whipped up a huge quilt top (will post photos when it's completed) Now I just have to find the money to put it all together. Add it to the pile of 7 quilt tops yet to be finished!!!
Then today Lachie and I had our karate grading. I'm not going to lie, it was tough. I had to fight black belts because there were not many higher belts grading. I am exhausted and very bruised and battered, but I held my own and it's all good.

So, I hope you had a good weekend, I'm going to rest now.

BRAVE

This is something I have wanted to do for a while before I forgot the little things.
I sprayed and splattered gold moonshadow mist everywhere and used my beautiful typewriter to document this event. (Can you tell I love my typewriter?)

A PLAY WITH ALCOHOL INKS

This is my entry for Blue Bazaar's mixed media challenge for this month.
I blended 3 different alcohol inks onto the metal frame then added words and part of an ATC sent to me by the amazing Gloria.

YOH BABY

Here's a new layout to share from when my sister was visiting in March. We were acting pretty silly the night these photos were taken.
The three of us have enjoyed so many laughs, tears and hugs, it was so good to get together again.

Oh yeh
I had my hair cut off too.

TECHNIQUE FILE CARDS

I make file cards to practice new techniques. They are small and quick and I write the technique onto the back of the card for future reference.

I really must design an album or box to put them in.
(note to self: find some more time!!!!)

MY NEW BABY

Here's the story.

I have been searching for an old typewriter for a while now. I either couldn't find one in good working order or the price was just too much.

A couple of weeks ago, I was on ebay and this exact typewriter was on there, but with postage, it was going to cost me around $85!

While out hunting for bits and pieces to alter today, this typewriter caught my eye from across the crowded junky room. I nearly ran to it in excitement. I tried out all of the keys, they worked, there was even ribbon in good working order in it.

Now for the best bit

IT WAS ONLY $5!!!!!!!!

AS PROMISED

This is my take on an ATC challenge for a little group of talented ladies from all over the world - our g-inspired friends.
For this challenge we could do whatever we wanted but had to have room for a photo on it.
So, I thought long and hard and decided "why not do a fabric ATC?"
You will need:

*white fabric
*fabric paint
*floral fabric
*lace
*bird stamp
*vlisofix
*zig writer
*plastic
*staples
*sewing machine
*threads
*pearle cotton

Here is how I put this one together:

*paint the background fabric with watered down fabric paints
*cut fabric 1/4" bigger all round than end size
* roughly cut out roses from floral fabric
*iron on vlisofix to back of roses and lace
*carefully cut around the roses
*stamp bird image onto background
*place lace on background fabric then roses
*iron them on
*using free motion stitching, stitch around roses and add detail in the centre also
*draw a line with pen for the size you want the ATC to be (3 1/2" x 2 1/2")
*place pearle cotton (the same colour as thread) onto the line
*zig zag over the pearle cotton - do not start at a corner
*zig zag over the end when you get all the way around and go around once more
*cut out 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" piece of thick plastic
*place on ATC and staple in place
*write your details on the back with a zig writer

Wow, I didn't realise there were so many steps to this and I have 12 to make, I'm half way there.

TACTILE ATC

Here is what I have been working on this weekend, ATC's for another swap over at Blue Bazaar, the theme is tactile.

I have used glimmer mist, background ATC stamp, silouette bird stamp, flocking and my own hand-dyed sheep's wool.

18 of these babies will be on their way to my friends over there tomorrow. I can't wait to get mine from everyone else. I soooo love a swap.

Speaking of which, there is another ATC swap happening with a group I am involved in, we are "g-inspired" meaning "friends of Gloria Froese", it's being such fun learning more about my friends in this group now we have a more interactive way of communicating with each other. Sneak peek tomorrow with these ATC's, I've done something very different and have had heaps of fun doing it.
